Meet our founder, Aviva
Welcome to Day Rate Beauty! I'm Aviva Jansen Perea and I’ve been an editorial and red carpet hair stylist for two decades. Thousands of updos and countless visits to beauty stores around the world, yet my kit was consumed by lackluster hair and bobby pins.
Six months of laboring over nuanced hair samples has allowed me to create 10 sophisticated, joy-sparking tones malleable to most hair colors.
OUR NAME + STORY
The name Day Rate Beauty speaks to the most common point of negotiation in my career, my day rate. Opportunity and pay disparity are a standard in Hollywood. My industry very clearly lacks diversity and after taking time to reflect during the chaos of 2020, I chose to advocate for myself in a way I had never before. Enter Day Rate Beauty!
GIVING BACK
As excited as we are about Day Rate Beauty, we are equally excited about our “Giving Back” program.
We are planning to host a series of talks: “Words of Encouragement”, where I will tell my story, including steps to entrepreneurship and the challenges encountered. As we proceed, I will continue to volunteer my time, virtually and in-person, to assist clients to prepare for interviews and work.
In addition, we are focused on raising money for causes focused on empowering women. Our Power Pink campaign is our first step in that direction. Each sale will benefit a host of organizations, from cancer research funds to domestic violence resources, we intend to make a difference.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS, MADE IN THE USA
We are the only company coating stainless steel pins in sustainably sourced nylon, made from castor beans. Our manufacturing facility is here in the USA and our packaging is designed to be utilitarian, long lasting, and recyclable (the tubes, boxes and shippers are compostable). Sustainability is truly at the core of our decision making process.
