The gesture

Three moves, one pin.

01

Gather.

Sweep your hair up and twist it once, wherever you want the knot to sit. Loose is fine; the pin does the tightening.

02

Twist and tuck.

Wrap the twist into a knot and tuck the ends under. Slide the pin in against the scalp, then flip it back up and through the base.

03

Wiggle.

Give the pin a small wiggle to lock it into the hair, then let go. It stays put all day. No elastic, no dent.

Which pin?

Seven inches or five and a half.

Go with Power if your hair falls past your shoulder blades or is thick enough to snap an elastic. Petite works for everything else, and for anyone who likes a smaller, lower-profile look.
